Terms of Service
The rules for using Youthrowback, a time machine for your favourite creators, for YouTube.

01. About Youthrowback
Youthrowback (“the service”) is operated by a private individual, on a non-professional basis. It lets you choose a historical start date, follow YouTube channels that already existed on that date and watch their publicly available videos in chronological order, through the official YouTube embedded player.
By creating an account or using the service you accept these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Youthrowback.
02. YouTube API Services
Youthrowback uses YouTube API Services to look up channels and videos. By using Youthrowback you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.
Google’s use of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Youthrowback is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by YouTube or Google. Videos stay hosted on YouTube and are played with YouTube’s embedded player; Youthrowback never downloads, stores or modifies videos.
03. Your account
A guest demo is available without an account. To choose your own date and follow creators you need an account, created with an email address and password or with Google sign-in.
- Give accurate information and keep your password and sign-in methods secure.
- You must be old enough to use YouTube and to consent to the processing of your personal data where you live.
- Follows exist only in Youthrowback. Youthrowback never accesses or changes your YouTube account or subscriptions.
- You can export your data or delete your account at any time from Settings.
04. What you see
Titles, thumbnails, channel names and avatars are shown as they appear on YouTube today, not as they looked on the date you picked. Publication dates are the real dates reported by YouTube. Videos that were deleted, made private or restricted are not shown, so a timeline can be incomplete.
Your timeline moves one day forward every 24 hours after you start it. Timeline days are calendar days in UTC.
05. Acceptable use
- Do not scrape the service, bypass its limits or overload it.
- Do not try to access another person’s account or data.
- Do not use Youthrowback in a way that breaks the law or the YouTube Terms of Service.
06. Availability and liability
The service is provided “as is”. It depends on YouTube API Services and their daily quotas, so channel searches or new videos can be delayed or temporarily unavailable. To the extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for indirect damages or for content published by third parties on YouTube.
07. Ending the service
You can stop using Youthrowback and delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms. If the service closes, we will delete personal data as described in the Privacy Policy.
08. Donations
Youthrowback is free. When a donation link is shown, donations are voluntary, unlock nothing in Youthrowback and are handled entirely by Ko-fi under its own terms.
09. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. If you live in another country of the European Union, you also keep the protection of its mandatory consumer rules. Please write to contact@youthrowback.com first so that any dispute can be settled amicably; failing that, the competent courts have jurisdiction.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the bottom of this page shows the current version; significant changes will be announced in the service before they apply.
11. Contact
Write to contact@youthrowback.com. Publisher and host details are in the Legal notice.
